Fashion Revolution: A Manuma primer

The way you shop, and the way you care for your clothes can help you live more in alignment with your values.

You buy organic produce and grass-fed meat. You’ve invested in improvements to your home to make it more energy efficient. You bring reusable bags to the grocery store. You own at least one reusable water bottle and/or coffee mug.

But there are few, clear answers to how to make your wardrobe more sustainable for the climate, and more supportive of people in the supply chain. There’s very little transparency around how clothes are made, where they come from, and what to do with them when you’re ready to dispose of them or pass them on.

Fashion Revolution

Transparency is the keystone demand of Fashion Revolution, a UK-based, global movement involving all stakeholders in the fashion cycle, from farmers to factories to consumers. Begun after the collapse of Rana Plaza in 2013 that killed over one thousand garment workers, Fashion Revolution Week is commemorated every year to prompt the question, “Who made my clothes?”
